Canada’s largest city, Toronto, is located on the north-western bank of Lake Ontario. In the future, locals and visitors will be able to take a walk along a section of the lakeside, called Water’s Edge Promenade, which stretches for almost a kilometer. 30 meters of public space have risen along the East Bay bank, between the buildings and the lake. The promenade consists of a 10 meter wide granite mosaic floor and an 11 meter wide wooden pedestrian bridge at a slightly lower level. In addition there is a 9 meter wide pedestrianized area between the buildings and the walkways. A row of large trees lines each side of the promenade, creating an alleyway protecting pedestrians from sun and wind.
An integrated rainwater management system collects and reuses rainwater and once dusk has fallen on Water’s Edge Promenade, Selux Olivio Sistema luminaires provide optimal lighting.
