PROJECT

Parc Rosemont
Montreal, Canada
Parc Rosemont is a recently transformed urban oasis in Montréal’s Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough, designed to be much more than a conventional park. The site has been reimagined as a dynamic social and ecological landscape, designed to serve a dense urban neighborhood while integrating climate-resilient strategies and supporting vibrant public life. The design organizes the park into three distinct yet interconnected zones: the Plaza, the Glade, and the Urban Woodland. Each offering unique experiences from active play and relaxation to immersion in nature, all linked by intuitive pathways and inviting entrances. Its success is reflected in multiple awards including the CSLA Awards of Excellence and the Grands prix du design.
At the heart of Parc Rosemont is an emphasis on accessibility, inclusivity, and ecological stewardship. The Plaza serves as a welcoming interface with the surrounding streetscape, featuring bicycle parking, urban furniture, and accessible routes that invite people of all ages and abilities to enter and explore. The Glade offers a multifunctional lawn and playful wooden structures that stimulate creativity and can accommodate everything from spontaneous games to picnics, while water-play features and a dry stream add both cooling relief in summer and dynamic visual interest. The Urban Woodland creates an urban micro-forest with over 550 trees, promoting biodiversity and social interaction with nature amid the city.

Thoughtful lighting design was also central to the park’s success, enhancing safety, usability, and ambience after dark. Selux Olivio Sistema 2 luminaires were chosen for their ability to deliver clean, even illumination across key circulation routes and gathering spaces without detracting from the natural setting. With precise optical control and a sleek, unobtrusive profile, Olivio Sistema 2 supports both functional visibility and atmospheric quality, reinforcing the park’s welcoming character from dusk into the evening. Its adaptability makes it particularly well-suited for an environment where subtlety and performance are equally important in achieving a cohesive public realm.
By blending ecological innovation with thoughtful design and infrastructure like Olivio Sistema 2 lighting, Parc Rosemont exemplifies how contemporary urban parks can be resilient social landscapes. It not only improves neighborhood quality of life through accessible, year-round amenities but also responds to climate challenges with permeable surfaces, enhanced biodiversity, and sustainable systems that manage rainfall and promote ecological health. The result is a vibrant, inclusive space that is as inviting after dark as it is during the day, encouraging community connection, recreation, and appreciation of nature at all hours.
