Tridel 300 Front Street

Toronto, Canada

Tridel 300 Front Street in Toronto is a condominium with a difficult lighting situation on the outdoor pool and patio area – there were only three sides of the space accessible, with the south-facing wall being a giant perimeter. The goal was to create a streamlined design without taking up too much space with too many light posts.

Olivio from Selux was chosen to help make the minimalist design possible, with three 26-foot poles and multiple heads on each pole. In order to achieve the IES recommended 10 foot-candles, the fixtures were placed strategically and with light pollution and Dark Sky-friendly requirements in mind. LEED compliance was also considered, as the building is pursuing LEED Gold.

By reducing the number of poles and utilizing the streamlined fixture heads, it allowed for a theatrical lighting effect with a more romantic feeling that also showcases the modern furnishings. The fixture poles are similar to ones being used along the Toronto waterfront – visible from the patio, which creates a stylish tie-in.
