• Selux Profile

Improving the quality of life with light: That is our passion.

At Selux, we have been asking ourselves how to light places for more than 70 years. How do we create safety, well-being, and beauty with light? How do our products work during the day when they are objects in public spaces?

The amazing thing is the answers to these questions are right in front of us. Nature provides us with the answers. In nature, everything is in harmony. Everything complements each other, nothing dominates in the long run. Nature knows no monoculture; nothing is fashionable and everything that does not make sense will disappear in the end. The results are perfect protagonists that exist in interaction with each other and constantly optimize themselves.

As a result, a central thought has emerged in our minds: if we celebrate the perfection, intelligence and beauty of nature and take it as our model many acts derive from it.

Individuality and aesthetics in harmony with nature are what drive us.

What does a product have to look like? How does it work, how does it behave and how does the luminaire fit into its surroundings?

With all these thoughts, there is one central insight for us: timelessness is the best form of sustainability. We want to create products that we will still find beautiful in decades to come and that function perfectly. Products that integrate and form a symbiosis with their surroundings.

At Selux we think: we humans should not look to the future with concern, but accept responsibility now for this one world we have.

Let's start.

Light for generations — then and now.

1948

"Semper lux" - always light. When Hermann Bansbach founded his company in Berlin after the Second World War, the badly destroyed city was almost without electricity and light. Bansbach brought light into the dark times by making life easier for Berliners with a battery charger. He believed that light has a social and cultural significance that goes far beyond the purely economic.

2016

On Monday December 12, 2016, the Selux Innovation Center was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Peter Stanway, Selux US CEO, Armin Bansbach, his wife Barbara, and Jurgen Hess. The Innovation Center is dedicated to the Bansbach family whose “vision and commitment to Selux Corporation have made its creation possible.” A plaque commemorating the dedication now hangs in the entrance way of the Innovation Center for all to see.

“My hope for the future is that this building serves as a hub of creativity
for present and future generations of Selux employees and that the meeting
of Lighting Industry Professionals in this space may generate innovative
new lighting solutions for many years to come.”
