Supporting both safety and well-being with thoughtful design
The New Selux MHL125 is a purpose-built luminaire designed to meet the critical safety and performance demands of interior mental health environments. With a tamper and ligature-resistant design, it delivers durable, high-quality illumination across a range of applications—from patient rooms and bathrooms to nurses’ stations and quiet spaces. Offered in surface and recessed mounting options, installed individually at various lengths, it combines durability with thoughtful aesthetics to deliver light where it’s needed. The finish options include standard powder coat paint as well as faux wood allowing seamless integration into the project aesthetics.
Safe & Durable Design Features
The MHL125 is designed for the stringent patient safety standards set by the New York State Office of Mental Health, making it a viable option for high-risk environments. Engineered with ligature-resistant and tamper-resistant features, this fixture is designed to reduce risk while maintaining durability. The 1/4” thick polycarbonate lens is IK10 certified, meaning it can withstand impacts of at least 20 joules, effectively preventing unauthorized access and breakage. All joints and seams have undergone rigorous testing to ensure ligature resistance, and the fixture is secured with tamper-resistant fasteners for added protection. With its robust construction and attention to safety, the MHL125 is a dependable choice for behavioral health facilities and other environments requiring heightened security and durability.
Light Distribution Designed for Mental Health Spaces
Optical control is essential in creating effective and comfortable lighting, especially in sensitive environments like mental health facilities, and the MHL125 delivers on all fronts. In addition to its proven durability, the MHL125 offers a versatile range of LED optics and shielding options to meet a variety of lighting needs. Available with tempered clear glass, prismatic, or diffuse lenses, it supports both symmetric and asymmetric distributions, allowing for purposeful and adaptable illumination. With a powerful output of 2,012 lm/ft and an efficient 97 lm/W performance, the MHL125 delivers high-quality light that enhances both safety and comfort. Color temperatures
include 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, along with specialty options like RGBW, My White, and BIOS SkyBlue™ for circadian-supportive lighting.
Aesthetic Flexibility for Healing Spaces
The MHL125 is available in a range of standard metal finishes that complement clean, modern interiors. For spaces where a warmer, more natural aesthetic is desired, it also comes in realistic faux wood finishes. These finish options allow the MHL125 to harmonize with the project’s design language to create an environment that is welcoming to patients and staff.
