The library building at the University of Freiburg is one of the largest libraries in Germany with 3.5 million printed and 1 million electronic books and 247 service. Recently, it underwent an energy refurbishment and upgrade, in which it was adapted to the requirements of digital learning.

Throughout the building 1,500 Purelight pendant luminaires by Selux ensure optimum, efficient lighting round-the-clock every day of the week. Elegant DALI-controlled luminaires provide state-of-the-art daylight and presence-based light control and changeover to emergency lighting mode. The 360° luminaires provide horizontal, active light for productive learning and working.

At night the interior lighting enables this distinctive building to glow resplendently from the inside outwards, thus revealing the modern bustle inside this university library.

  • Purelight Square and Round are constructed from extruded aluminum wide polycarbonate lens, polished die cast endcaps and wall brackets. Impact-resistant lens protects against dust, ensures high luminaire efficiency, and allows easy access to optical chamber. Satine polycarbonate lens provides exceptional uniformity and quality volumetric interior lighting. Selux offers multiple LED options including LEDs in static 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K CCTs at 80+ and 90+ CRI, My White tunable white in 2700K - 6500K at 90+ CRI, BIOS SkyBlue® Technology at 83+ CRI, and RGBW. All LED options are within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse. Custom lumen outputs are also available upon request. Purelight My White is digitally controllable with DALI or DMX dimming drivers · Various light colors of your choice can be used for optically zoning architecture, creating perception, emphasizing key elements, and highlighting material.
