In the spring of 2015 the town plan­ning board of Water­town saw an up-tick in the appli­ca­tions for res­i­den­tial com­plexes, office build­ings, hotels, shops and restau­rants along the Arse­nal Street pas­sage­way. Pow­ered by the eco­nomic upturn, add in the easy com­mute to Boston, access to public trans­porta­tion and afford­able land prices — change began. The vision for this former indus­trial site was to begin by open­ing it up, remov­ing the chain link fenc­ing and con­nect­ing to the Water­town Green­way Bike Path. The revi­tal­iza­tion of Arse­nal Street was under­way, making Water­town Boston’s next bor­ough.

Known as LINX, the naming idea coming from the link­ing” of the Green­way, the Charles River and nearby neigh­bor­hoods is a mix office space with a sub­stan­tial out­door area for infor­mal meet­ings and leisure activ­i­ties.

The Inula Column and Bol­lard were selected for this project because of their sophis­ti­ca­tion and abil­ity to illu­mi­nate path­ways and areas with no up light. Inula pro­vides light­ing that is har­mo­nious with the sur­round­ing neigh­bor­hoods.

  • The Inula Bollard and Column are sophisticated and environmentally friendly pathway and area luminaires with no up light. The proprietary optic provides clean lighting patterns with no striations. A recessed LED light engine, convex cone shaped light chamber, and matte Black finish provides a BUG up light rating of U0. In combination with the First Light Technologies solar package, the Inula Solar bollard is the premier choice for off-grid applications. The 4W Solar system and 3000K and 4500K LED light engines are complemented by a high efficiency Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller. The entire system is designed to automatically manage the light output based on environmental conditions and lighting requirements. Different run profiles allow for optimal performance based on location.
